Welcome to the Leadership & Peer Support
Program at OTHS!
What is Leadership & Peer Support?
- Develops student leadership and support potential, style, and skills so that students can apply these skills in the school and community as well as in their selected career.
- Develops skills in communication, interpersonal relations, coaching, leadership, teamwork, and conflict management, and allows students to apply them in roles such as tutoring, mentoring, and student council involvement.
- Students will also learn the value and complexity of social diversity, while acquiring an appreciation of the importance of their community and helping others throughout their lives
Placement Opportunities
- Each placement is a partnership between the student and the classroom teacher.
- The classroom teacher provides experience in the day-to-day schedule for the LPS student and will involve them in the teacher role.
- Students will maintain a teacher-like position during their placement, performing any duties that the classroom teacher asks of them.
- The LPS teacher will be observing the student’s performance during their placement as well as communicating overall achievement.
